Hello there! Today we read Rudi's Pond by Eve Bunting. In the beginning,Rudi and the little girl are friends and make a bird feeder.But,Rudi gets sick. In the middle, Rudi dies from the sickness and her class makes a pond in memory of Rudi. The little girl brings in the feeder. In the end,a bird comes and uses the feeder. He comes back every day and uses it. The little girl thought that when Rudi died he became the bird. Then when it is summer, she brings the feeder back and she hopes the bird will find her house. I think that the little girl cared alot about Rudi because she cried alot when Rudi died. I also thought that Rudi was good kid because they made something nice to remember him.

Yes, it was a sad story, with Rudi dieing, but from an other point of view, it was a happy story because the little girl was able to make a conection and almost comunicate with Rudi.

Then Rudi dies, and the whole school wants to honer Rudi. They make a pond beacause Rudi liked ponds. The little girl brings the feeder and hangs it near the pond. One day, a hummingbird comes, and it keeps on coming every day, but every time it goes to look at Rudi first. When it is summer and the bird feeder is removed and is rehung in the girl's yard, the hummingbird still finds it. This is what makes the girl think Rudi is reborn into the hummingbird.
