Isaac Tells about the Food Drive
We are making posters for the food and coat drive. I learned a fact yesterday from someone who came from Legacy of Giving to tell us about the kids and people who go to the food bank. I couldn't believe that almost half the families that go to the food bank have to choose between paying the bills or buying food. We need to put in more coats and food so they can pay the bills AND have food.
We also learned that 20,000 kids are served each week by the food bank. That's why we need to give food. We need to give them coats too to make it through winter nights. So that's why we need to help them.
I will try to bring my extra coats and some food. I will encourage my mom to buy some food from HEB so we can give it to them.

We've Been Talking Tall Tales
Paul Bunyan and Babe, to be exact. It tied in beautifully with our Social Studies study of landforms, too!
We discovered that revising our writing can be fun too - getting a fresh look at a piece and a fresh piece of paper can dramatically improve an old piece...and we are working towards publishing before Thanksgiving.

Gloria talks about Weekly Reader
When I read Weekly Reader this morning my favorite one was Author In Chief because the president
Barack Obama wrote wrote a book called Of THEE I SING A Letter To My Daughters.
Also the book is just for kids,Barack Obama said "It is a great opportunity for me to speak to young people". The book is about 13 important Americans ,including a baseball player Jackie Robinson.
This book goes on sale November 16th 2010.

Our Bear Activity - Jack
We learned about what bears eat and how they survive by pretending we were bears. We had go outside and collect squares Mrs. Forrest scattered all over the field. They had letters and numbers on them and put them in an envelope, our den.
When we came in the classroom we found out the squares meant food and water, and how many pounds. We had to figure out if we had enough squares to survive. I didn't. I didn't even have a water source until we traded. When we cooperated, people gave their extras to people who didn't have enough so they could survive.
We learned that this is like our food drive because we give food to others who don't have food and money.
It was fun because I liked seeing Hunter be a blind bear.
